Manchester United have shown great interest in Villareal player Marcos Senna to further strengthen their new midfield.
After Carrick has been confirmed for a huge £18.6million, United are only looking to pay around £3 million for Senna whilst Villareal are hoping for £10million. Senna, who has one year reamining on his contract with villareal is thought to have agreed personal terms with United already, now they need to convince Villareal to release him.
It seems Torres might also still be on the cards, even though the Spanish player snubbed United by saying

According to the Daily Mirror, United are currently in talks with Argentinian midfielder Javier Mascherano. After doing very little in the transfer market, it seems rumours are widespread over players who might possibly transfer to Old Trafford. Should this rumour turn out to be true, I for one, would be a very happy man.
Mascherano would

Last night’s pre-season friendly against Celtic was actually a very exciting game to watch, the second team showed a huge amount of potential and subsequently walked all over Celtic which although it was a friendly, has to be a disappointment for Celtic manager Gordon Strachan.
Paul Scholes especially was showing that he was back to his usual self putting in some extremely good crosses and scoring two (very easy) goals, the other being scored by Manchester United youth defender Jonathan Evans.

Rumour has it that Fergie still has his eye on Torres even after a £25m bid for him was rejected by Atletico Madrid. But as deals come through thick and fast for Ruud, it seems the United Boss might have a bit of extra spending power in the days to come.
It was confirmed last night that Bayern have placed a fresh bid on Nistlerooy and it seems Ruud would only be too happy to go and play for them. But will their bid be successful? Ferguson has played signings this time round rather cool and although he knows fans want to see new players he insists he won’t be making any rash decisions:
Fans want to see new signings and a new face which makes a difference to our play and bring more success,” said Fergie.
“We are trying to sign a couple of players who would add variety to our play. They are different types of players to the ones we have and that would only strengthen us.
“But we will not be stupid. I am quite adamant about that.”
It seems he will not be stupid in the selling of Ruud either, with a few bids already being rejected.
The Bayern general manager quoted on their website: “Van Nistelrooy wants to come to us. Now the ball is in Manchester United’s court.”
And club president Karl-Heinze Rummenigge reported in the Bild am Sonntag newspaper: “Van Nistelrooy is one of the best strikers in Europe, he gets goals and he is a personality. It would be great if we could land a striker of his calibre.
“Van Nistelrooy has told us that he can play for Bayern. We have already talked about money. Manchester United must decide the rest and they won’t give him away for nothing.”
The loss of Ruud would almost certianly be forgotten if Fergie got the winning bid for Torres, but how much is too much when bidding for a player at his level?

Alex Ferguson has stated that he wants to focus mainly on creating a strong midfield next season. United haven’t managed to sign anybody as of yet although they were linked to players like Patrick Vieira, Fernando Torres and possibly their biggest target at the moment, Michael Carrick.
“The main issue for me is the composition of the midfield. We are not looking outside of that,” Ferguson told The News of the World.
“When you lose a player like Roy Keane, which was always going to happen as he was getting older, you have to find a replacement for him.
“It is something I have been looking at for a long time. We have Paul Scholes back after that unfortunate, unusual eye injury and he is back to his best form.
“We also have the quality and experience of Ryan Giggs so it can’t be that bad.
“We have youthfulness in John O’Shea, who did a great job for us last year in that position, and Darren Fletcher, so we have some alternatives in there.”

A lot of speculation has been made as to whether Ruud will be leaving or not, but in Fergies latest interview it seems almost certain that he will be, with Ruud making it clear he doesn’t want to stay at United (who could blame him…)
“Ruud asked away, it is as simple as that,” Ferguson added.
“He asked away before the Arsenal Cup final last year, then asked away through his representative and now has asked away himself in writing.
“Quite frankly, if he wants to leave there really is no point trying to persuade him to stay.
“If a player’s heart is not in it then you have to make a decision. I couldn’t tell you why he wants to leave or why his heart isn’t in it, all I can tell you is he has asked away and we have accepted that.”
Ronaldo won’t be getting away as easily as Ruud though (as much as even United fans and other patriots might want him to) it seems Ferguson is set on keeping him, even though Ronaldo has set his heart on moving to Spain:
“Ronaldo will return to Manchester United. We are not in the process of letting our best players go, certainly not our young players.
“There is no rift between Wayne and Cristiano. In fact Wayne has been fantastic throughout all of this, he has handled the whole thing very well.
“I know Wayne has been in touch with Cristiano and I don’t anticipate any problems.”
But will Ronaldo’s play be majorly affected by hate received from the public? It can’t be the easiest thing in the world to be up against 60 million people who would love nothing more than to rip your arms and legs off with blunt knives…

I don’t know if we can truly believe this story but it seems that Ruud may not be leaving after all, with interested bidders not bidding high enough, Ferguson has said:
”Ruud is not definitely leaving and I expect to see him at training on Monday,”
“I spoke to (chief executive) David Gill on the phone yesterday and there is no development as far as Real Madrid is concerned.
“They have made an offer, we have rejected it. That is where the situation lies. If they don’t come back in and increase their offer, he won’t be going and I would be content with that. It would not bother me one bit.
“He is a striker who can score upwards of 20 goals a season and there are not many of those going around.”
This news I feel, is a result. Ruud was hardly treated too fairly and in my opinion is still a big asset for United. But why the change of heart from Ferguson? Maybe he has realised that time is running out with nobody wanting to bid too highly, though Bayern remain confident they can strike a deal.
Seems that rather than ass kicking, Fergie might soon be doing some ass licking…
